A Parent's Guide to Special Education
Federation for Children with Special Needs The Federation is a center for parents and parent organizations to work together on behalf of children with special needs and their families. We can help! Organized in 1975 as a coalition of parent groups representing children with a variety of disabilities, the Federation operates a Parent Center in Massachusetts which offers a variety of services to parents, parent groups, and others who are concerned with children with special needs. MassPAC MassPAC at the Federation for Children with Special Needs is the statewide organization providing information, training, and networking opportunities to Massachusetts special education parent advisory councils (PACs) and the professionals who collaborate with them. Wrightslaw Parents, educators, advocates, and attorneys come to Wrightslaw for accurate, reliable information about special education law, education law, and advocacy for children with disabilities. The Disability Policy Consortium educates, connects, and organizes people with disabilities to participate in the electoral and legislative processes, to become active in their communities, and to advocate for justice and equality. Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism (AFAA) is a national consortium seeking to create meaningful futures for adults with autism that include homes, jobs, recreation, friends and supportive communities. Massachusetts PIRC The Massachusetts PIRC is a place where parents across the state can find information to help them make the best choices for their children’s education. We also support schools and districts across the state in their efforts to form strong partnerships with families.
